Tetris Ultimate is a game published by Ubisoft and in partnership with The Tetris Company for Tetris's 30th anniversary.

Gameplay

Tetris Ultimate uses standard Tetris Guideline rules, although some aspects of the gameplay can be modified, such as piece preview queue, Hold, ghost piece, Random Generator, lock delay, wall kicks, rotation lock, DAS, ARR, and soft drop speed.

Game modes

Marathon

A standard 150-line Marathon game. Starting level can be chosen, though the player is still required to clear 150 lines regardless.

Endless

Same as Marathon, but with a level cap of 30. The gravity reaches its maximum of 20G on Level 20, while lock delay decreases on Level 21 onwards.

Sprint

A standard 40 lines time attack mode with selectable starting level.

Ultra

A 3-minute timed mode.

Battle

A multiplayer versus mode with line attack garbage system. Can be played by up to 4 players.

Battle Ultimate

Same as Battle, but with the addition of Power-Up items. The following can be triggered by using specially marked Tetriminos and clearing lines with them:

  • Buzzsaw - Clears 3 unfinished lines from a player's playfield and sends extra lines to the opponent
  • Carousel - Blocks will shift one column to the left after each piece dropped for 13 seconds
  • Hip to be Square - Opponent's next 4 pieces are O Tetriminos
  • Haunted Well - Opponent's playfield becomes invisible for 3 turns
  • Let It Rain - Random blocks will fall on the opponent's playfield after a piece drop

Time's Up (PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, PC)

A timed mode with a base time of 30 seconds. Performing multiple line clears, Tetrises, and T-spins will increase the duration of the game period.

Landslide (PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, PC)

Marathon mode, but random garbage blocks fall onto the playfield every 10 moves.

Haunted (PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, PC)

Marathon mode, but every piece dropped will disappear in the playfield. A short flash of the playfield is shown for every few moves, though the amount of moves needed increase per level.

Invisible

Same as Haunted, but all pieces dropped disappear completely, similar to the M-Roll in the Grand Master series.

Master (3DS)

Marathon mode, but with 20G gravity throughout the session.

Team Versus and Co-Op Play

Two or more players share an extended playfield (20 × 20 minimum), with two columns overlapping each player's side.
In Team Versus, teams of two players compete against each other in two shared playfields. In Co-Op, all players must clear lines together within the same shared playfield.
Available in all modes except Battle and Battle Ultimate.
