TRS is an easter egg/bonus game present in the Tetris For Windows CE installation patcher from Retronerd, a group dedicated to the historical preservation of software and video games.

Gameplay

The game's graphics resemble the original Tetris (Electronika 60) featuring monochromatic pieces made of square brackets and a toggleable CRT shader effect.

There is no level cap.

As reported in the NFO section of the patcher: the game incorporates features like ARE, IHS, DAS, IRS, Lock Delay, Piece Preview, SRS, Random Bag, Buffer Zone, Hard Drop, Soft Drop, Official Scoring System, Kick Tables, T-Spins, Level Progression, Pause, and uses the standard keyboard mapping with UP for clockwise rotation, DOWN for soft drop, SPACE for hard drop, C or Shift for hold, Z or Left Control for counterclockwise rotation, LEFT and RIGHT for piece shifting.

Scoring

Points are calculated and given only after a piece locks down. No points are given after a piece causes a "game over".

Lines Scoring
Lines Points
1 100 * level
2 300 * level
3 500 * level

T-Spin Scoring

Development

The patcher was created in 2024 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Tetris. As a single executable file of 43KB (44,032 bytes), it contains an installation patcher for Tetris For Windows CE, the TRS game, and an NFO viewer that narrates the story behind the patcher's development.
